Why is he developing into one of the best US coaches? It isn’t his rating, it isn’t his US ranking, it isn’t his forehand or backhand or footwork. It is his mind.
See, most top players began playing at 7 or 8 years old and the skills were developed at a young age from repetition again and again during structured training programs. Not for Chance Friend. He had to work through many things on his own learning skills throughout his teen years and he learned to watch pros, think for himself, and try to develop his own game.
So why is he one of the best US coaches? Because he can teach you relevant skills with an easy-to-understand, step-by-step approach. He can relate to the average teen or average adult struggling through the 1200 level or 1900 level or 2400 level. His knowledge was self-discovered and so it is relatable.
In my opinion, the best coach is not the best player.
In my opinion, the best coach is the one who can give YOU relevant information appropriate for your stage of development.
