Veil of the Temple

Read the Bible verse of the week

Today, I would like to share with you a very family portion of the Bible and briefly describe a detail that you might have missed.  The portion of Scripture is found in Mark chapter 15; it is describing the death of Christ.

Mark 15:37-39
And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last.  Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.  So when the centurion, who stood opposite Him, saw that He cried out like this and breathed His last, he said, “Truly this Man was the Son of God!”

In the Old Testament temple, there was an area called the “Holy of Holies”.  This holy area was only visited once per year by the priest.  The massive curtain separating the Holy of Holies was torn from top to bottom.  From top to bottom showed that it was God who cut the veil.  The veil that separated God and man was torn.  Through the death of Christ and the salvation that he brought, man has access to the presence of God himself.

For my reader who is not a Christian…  please see that you can go to God directly in prayer.  Sin has separated all of us from a Holy God, but Jesus has made a way for us to be forgiven and go repentantly to God for salvation.

For my reader who is a Christian…  what a joy it is to have direct access to God, to have the ultimate privilege to humbly approach God with our joys and sorrows, thanking him every day for the salvation He has given us through Christ.

Throughout my blog postings, I plan to post helpful table tennis articles as well as truths that I have been learning from the Bible.  I hope that you read them and that God works in your heart.  I truly pray that you personally will repent of your sins and trust in Christ as your only means of getting to heaven.

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

The Gospel influences every area of my life - personal, table tennis, family, hobbies.  With God's help, I want to live each moment for Him.
