The Heart of the Matter is a Matter of the Heart

A Bible Passage From Matthew Chapter Five

In this blog, I would like to look with you at the Bible and show you that God cares not only about our external actions, but also about our internal thoughts and motives.

Matthew 5:21-22
Jesus said…
“You have heard that is was said to those of old, ‘you shall not murder: and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’  But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council: and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.”

Matthew 5:27-28
Jesus said…
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’  But I say to you that everyone who looks at woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

I think that most people would agree that murder and adultery are wrong.  However, Jesus clearly states that it is more than merely committing the act of murder and adultery.  Jesus condemns hating and lusting.  The heart of the matter (in God’s perspective) is a matter of the heart.

Each of us are born with wicked hearts.  We need to humble ourselves, ask for forgiveness, and ask God to change us and give us new hearts and will love and serve Him.

Throughout my blog postings, I plan to post helpful table tennis articles as well as truths that I have been learning from the Bible.  I hope that you read them and that God works in your heart.  I truly pray that you personally will repent of your sins and trust in Christ as your only means of getting to heaven.
Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
The Gospel influences every area of my life - personal, table tennis, family, hobbies.  With God's help, I want to live each moment for Him.
