Week 1 (Ohio Mega Camp)

Week 1 of the Ohio Mega Camps was centered around foundational strokes and footwork. Check out the action and watch the videos!

There are 6 aspects of every stroke. Regardless if you are a beginner or professional, you need to learn these elements of the stroke and be willing to adjust them as necessary during both drills and match play.

#1 Preparation
Preparation involves seeing what type of shot your opponent did. Without understanding what type of ball is approaching, it is difficult to choose the right shot.

Today, in the interactive lecture, we discussed various types of drills - systematic, semi-systematic, random, multi-location from both sides, open ended, and game situation drills...  detailing the reasons for each drills and at what stages each drill should be implemented.  We also talked about the 10 stages of implementing footwork (see video below).

Dear Students,

As I have told you many times, this is your daily minimum.
3 minute dynamic warmup routine prior to practice and a 10 minute fitness routine after practice. If you get these done, you can feel free to workout more. Each day, you can choose to do the core workout or the leg workout.
I would encourage you to pull out your phone or turn on your tablet and follow along to make sure that your workout stays timed and structured.
